About My Work

Through painting I have learned about myself and my body through my intuitive flow. I depict plant parts like bulbs, ovules, stigmas, roots, and pollen in communication with human parts, specifically the female reproductive system. I am not focused on the female reproductive system in its natural state, but rather what changes during hormonal transition. When we look at plants, we can see ourselves. We can see our fluctuations. I look for moments of tension in the natural world and within the human body. The moment a vine’s tendril latches on for stability. The moment of conception. The green flash every time the sun dips below the horizon line. I paint in conjunction with the plants that surround me so that they may inform my practice.
